Ever since the opening of Hole in the Wall, Century City Mall in Makati has quickly become one of the go-to places for a delicious casual dining experience. However, in the past few months, various food spots have also made a debut in the mall, expanding cuisine choices and offerings within the four walls of Century City.
Chaplin, currently on its soft opening, is a restaurant that offers fusion dishes heavily inspired by the near east regions, most especially Israel. Serving different menus for breakfast and lunch, as well as fresh breads in the morning, there is more food to explore in this restaurant than most of what others are offering. They also have a great selection of desserts that one cannot miss.
We were able to take a taste of their best sellers and it was quite a feast for my foodie heart. Although, admittedly, they are a little more expensive than the usual restaurants that I would visit, I highly recommend that you take a look on what they offer as they are really good.
Potato Wedges (PHP 99.00)
Eggplant Melanzane
We started out slow with some appetizers like the Potato Wedges and their Eggplant Melanzane. Perfect for those who are veering away from meat, the Eggplant Melanzane will be a great choice. Sumptuous tomato sauce wrapped in soft eggplant slices, this dish will make vegetarians jump for joy. My boyfriend doesn’t really like eggplants, but I bet my ass that he will love this because the flavors complements each other perfectly.
Paired my meals with their frothy Chocolate Milkshake (PHP 185.00)!
Shakshouka with Black Olives, Eggplant, and Feta (PHP 365.00)
We were also able to try their Shakshouka, and MAAAAAAAAAAAN, wasn’t it my favorite dish from the Chaplin Menu. Arguably one of their best sellers, shakshouka is mainly poached eggs smothered in creamy tomato sauce, with chili peppers and onions. You can choose to have it plain (PHP 295.00), or with black olives, eggplant, and feta (like what we had). They also have it with meatballs (PHP 375.00) or with jalapeno mozzarella (PHP 345.00). This also comes with a freshly baked bread, which they make in their kitchen.
Chaplin Pizza (PHP 355.00)
We were also able to try their pizza, which is pretty much Shakshouka in a 10″ crust, but still equally delicious. It’s also paired with some pesto sauce for added flavor. A+ for fresh tomatoes!
Chicken Steak (PHP 345.00)
Last for our main course was the Chicken Steak, which is pretty much like a chicken barbecue (minus the skewer). Usually served with a side salad, you would have a choice if you want wedges, fries, rice, or mashed potatoes to go with your meal. The chicken is appetizing and the meat is tender and flavorful.
Chocolate Souffle with Ice Cream (PHP 240.00)
Their dishes are yummy, but my favorite part of the meal was the desserts. Their chocolate souffle is SUPERB — not quite sweet, but has a deep chocolate flavor that goes well with the ice cream. Although the presentation can still be improved (maybe let the souffle rise a bit more), the taste is just exquisite.
Three Chocolate Mousse (PHP 220.00)
We were also able to have a bite of their three chocolate mousse and boy, wasn’t it amazing. Everything just blends well together, and it felt like I was in chocolate heaven while finishing this up. I am a fan of chocolate dishes that are not too sweet, and this was just the perfect example of what I was looking for.
All in all, our dining experience was incredible, the food were exquisite, and everything are served fresh from the kitchen. If you happen to be at Century City Mall and wants to try something new, I suggest you drop them a visit. As I’ve mentioned earlier, they are still on their soft opening and would most likely add more dishes to their menu in the coming weeks, so watch out!

Let me know pag naligaw ka dito hehe 😀
I noticed, they’re so creative with the presentation ha, (the eggplant!). I want to try the potato wedges, and the sweets! And nacurious ako dun sa Shakshouka! I shall find this one, kahit nasa Makati lang ako konti palang alam kong kainan. At never pako nakarating ng Century Mall! Haha and also because I’m too lazy to go out and commute, I’d just go dun sa walking distance lang haha
Sobrang daming masarap na kainan sa Makati, sometimes I wish I work there hahaha T_T
I think it is not a good idea to look on such inviting blog post while one has an empty stomach. 😛 This just made me drool. The desserts are the most awaited part of a meal, it’s my favorite too! I don’t know when I’ll be in Makati but will surely look for this shop, if able 😀
Yes, yes! Bisitahin mo sila. masarap talaga hehe! <3
