Gastronomical Adventures: Gringo

I have always been a fan of everything tex-mex. I love their distinguished use of herbs, that extra kick of spices, and everything that’s cheesy and delicious that comes to this type of dishes. Although I’ve only been to a couple of places in the metro, I always make it a point to go back to restaurants that captured my heart whether through its delicious ribs, burritos, or chicken. So I was really, really excited to learn that Gringo PH is going to send in a box of their newest offerings a couple of weeks before their opening! Here’s what we received…

A huge ass box including 3 dishes — their Original Chicken, Southern Style Chicken, and Ribs

For our “exclusive” food tasting, we were able to try their Original Chicken, their Southern Style Chicken, and their Ribs. Words really can’t describe how much we’re head over heels with the food, but one thing’s for sure, they gained three new fans (my boyfriend, my brother, and I).

Ribs + Tacos + Mexican Rice

Taking photos at home is a totally different story, as we really don’t have a very instagrammable kitchen and dining area, thus, the more close up shots of the food. Anyhow, each dish comes with mexican rice and a side dish, and everything goes perfectly well with their signature hot sauce and special sauce (which is a bit on the zesty side but still very hot). They blend amazingly with the meat, but make sure that you don’t over do it especially if you have low tolerance on everything spicy.

Gringo’s Ribs

For our first order of business, we decided to give their ribs a shot. It’s no longer that hot, as it traveled all the way to our home in Malabon, but maaaaaaaaan, it was delicious. The meat was tender and soft, it comes off from the bone so easily. It was also packed with flavor, that every bite was well worth it. I am usually the type of person who asks for extra barbecue sauce for ribs, but this one was so delectable, I need not any extra sauces to satisfy my taste buds. Goes amazing with the sauces, too!

Gringo’s Southern Style Chicken + Mexican Rice + Potatoes

Our second dish was Gringo’s Southern Style Chicken. Mark liked this a lot as he’s a huge fan of chicken. Don’t let the charred looking skin fool you — this was our favorite part, since it’s jam packed with the taste of spice and flavor that makes our foodie hearts go cray.

Gringo’s Original Style Chicken

This one also looks a bit charred, but needless to say, we enjoyed it immensely. Aside from the fact that we enjoyed the herb-y and zesty tastes of the chicken, we also loved the fact that it’s not dry, as oppose to what we would usually get with other flame cooked ones. We’re very, very happy with the food that I’m bringing in my family once they finally open.

Gringo is an up and coming concept store offering delectable tex-mex dishes. As of the moment, their branches are still yet to open, but they are soon to hit SM North EDSA The Block and Bonifacio Global City. (PS: I also reviewed this on WheninManila, so watch out for that, will link it here soon!)
