Where to Stay in Baguio: Azalea Residences

The first time that I was in Baguio was in 2011. It was for a field trip, it was short lived, and it was not as memorable as I thought it would be. Fast forward to 2016, I was invited by the beautiful people of Azalea Residences Baguio, and I was given a chance to overhaul that experience and create a better impression of the city. They brought me and my fellow bloggers to various destinations and gave us an A+ accommodation throughout our 3-day stay. Needless to say, they definitely made me fall in love with Baguio and gave me so many reasons to keep on coming back.

Amazing view from the 5th floor

The only four-star residence in Baguio, Azalea Hotels and Residences boasts its premiere location, fully furnished rooms with kitchen and living room facilities, as well as its outstanding services as one of the many reasons why you have to spend a weekend getaway or two in their beautiful property. They have 99 modern luxury suites, ready to accommodate you whether for just a quick trip, or even a long-term stay.

My room — master’s bedroom inside the two-room suite

During our stay, we were grouped into three and was asked to stay at two bedroom suites. Our suite has a convertible sofa, which was turned into a comfortable bed to accommodate all of us. The room was spacious and clean, and we were provided with cozy beds and LED televisions. We also had two bathrooms, a kitchen area, a minibar, and a little balcony. Honestly, if I were to travel all the way to Baguio for a staycation in Azalea, I would surely grab that opportunity in a whim.

Aside from the two bedroom suite where we stayed, they also have the deluxe hotel room, one bedroom suite, and the three bedroom suite to choose from. Depending on your preference and budget, you may also opt for rooms that offer the beautiful view of Baguio, but that would require you to pay a bit higher.  It’s worth the pay anyway, opening up the balcony in the morning and taking in the picturesque view of the city. Room rates start at PHP 5,950.00, and rates would go higher depending on the season.

Monopoly time!

Aside from it being a great choice for business trips or staycations, Azalea Residences also prides itself for being family friendly. They provide cribs (if necessary) to rooms, as well as board games and DVDs, perfect for bonding moments whether you’re just with friends or with your family. They also have a small playground with swings and slides that are just perfect for the kids (and kids at heart). During our second night, we borrowed Twister and Jenga from the reception, which I played with fellow blogger Char, and boy, it was fun. It was both our first time, and we were literally fighting the urge to scream at 1:00 AM. My only proof of that night was my now-deleted-snaps (follow me on snapchat! It’s @jhanzey :p), and this photo.

Tradisyon

Completing the hotel’s package as an all in one stop shop is Tradisyon Restaurant and 8 Degrees Lounge. Serving delectable meals at any time of the day, Tradisyon actually offers a variety of cuisines. Their staple dishes are mostly Filipino, but at times, they also host Mexican / Spanish nights, as well as serve your usual American meals. PS: Don’t forget to try their Kare-kare as well as their hot chocolate. You’ll thank me later.

If you’re looking for some light snacks and refreshments, then head over to 8 degrees lounge, where they serve palatable snacks and some alcoholic beverages.

Room 103’s Award Winning Salad

Although there’s a restaurant available inside the hotel, nothing beats food that you personally prepared. As a part of our activities, we were challenged to come up with a salad using random ingredients that were given to us. It was quite tiresome, chopping turnips and juicing oranges, but we survived and brought home a box of Tradisyon’s delicious cupcakes! Yum!

All in all, our stay with Azalea was such a blast, I would definitely love to come back for more. They were also kind enough to tour us around Baguio, brought us to various places, and let us experience what really made people fall in love with the city (I’ll talk more of our tours on a separate post). For now, here’s a video of our 3D2N adventure in Baguio. I’m still new on this, so forgive me for the lack of ~beautiful shots~ and shaky hands.

When we went to Manaoag the other week, we were pushing the thunders to push through with Baguio right there and then because we were just an hour away. But sadly, they wanted it planned. What happened to spontanity? LOL
