Traveling has always been something that is close to my heart, but I never really got that much into it until I graduated college and got a job. In fact, last year was the time that I was really able to go all out and explore more than what I’m used to. I wish to travel and see more this year (because, of course, there’s always MORE!), but here are, by far, my top 3 favorite destinations from all the places that I’ve been. Just looking back makes me want to pack my bags and leave! I just can’t wait for my next adventures.
First on my list would definitely be Ilocos. I loved it because, pretty much, it has everything that there is to see – culture, history, beach, food, adventure – you name it, they got it. I was lucky enough to tour around Ilocos (both Norte and Sur) and I know that I would definitely go back to this place in a heartbeat. I find it really surreal to experience so many things on such a limited time and on such a limited space. Ilocos is so rich in many ways, and that really just captured and mesmerized me.
Things to do: Visit Calle Crisologo, check out the windmills, go sandboarding, visit Pagudpud, go surfing, experience the Kapurpurawan Rock Formations, visit museums, EAT (empanada, longganisa, bagnet – YUM!!!)
I have only been to Coron so far, and I honestly feel like Palawan will always be something to go back for. Mark and I stayed there for three short days, and it felt like it was not enough to let the beauty sink in and take us whole. I love the simplicity of the town, how it felt safe and quiet when the dark starts to engulf the small houses nearby. There are also countless of places to explore, with its abundance of islands that will surely take your breath away. I’m obviously big for beaches, so I guess it’s pretty obvious that I shall return and experience more of those pristine and immaculate waters of Palawan.
Things to do: Dive, snorkel, beach bum, visit the lakes and lagoons, kayak
Bohol was actually my first ever press trip for WheninManila, and boy, was it just remarkable. I am a sucker for beaches and history, and Bohol just ticked both boxes. They also have awesome eco-tourism, with the tarsiers and mangroves and man-made forests, there are just so many reasons to be in love with the place. I also appreciate their people very much, because they are one of the kindest and most sincere people that I’ve met. Also, their beach is INSANE, with its creamy sand and clear waters; it’s super worth the visit. In fact, because I am so in awe of this place, I decided to bring Mark along this year to let him experience the magic himself. I cannot wait! 🙂
Things to do: Try the Loboc River Cruise, visit the chocolate hills, snorkel, dive, beach bum, church hop
Of course, my trips wouldn’t be complete with proper planning and the painstaking preps. Here is my go-to list of things to bring during a trip. And yes, these are mostly the things that I bring with me, a bunch of shorts, and some clothes, obviously.
