Gastronomical Adventures: 7 Flavors Restaurant

Currently on its soft opening, 7 Flavors Restaurant is a gourmet cafe, artisan bakery, and a world fusion restaurant all in one. Located near the shopping mecca that is Greenhills, 7 Flavors Restaurant is the newest addition to the growing food locations in San Juan.

7 Flavors is a celebration for your foodie cravings, tapping in to all seven flavors that you might encounter while eating — sweet, sour, salty, bitter, umami, spicy, and astringent. Fun fact: did you know that astringent is the dry and light taste that you can find similar to that of a popcorn? So really, they won’t be serving you facial cleansers in here, don’t worry (okay, let’s forget that that’s a punchline). The place is crafted by celebrity chef, Chef Boy Logro. My family is very fond of watching his shows, so I’d definitely suggest the place to them sometime soon.

As I’ve mentioned earlier, the place is an artisan bakery, a gourmet cafe, and a buffet all in one. The bakery can be found outside, the gourmet cafe occupies the lower ground of the area, while the buffet is located upstairs. We were lucky enough to experience all three, dipping our toes to each wonderful treat that the place has to offer.

7 Flavors Enseymada (Php 50.00)
The pride and joy of the artisan bakery would be their special 7 Flavors Enseymada, where they combine the flavors of cheese, pandan, bacon, leche flan, ube, macapuno, and vanilla butter all in one serving. It might come off as overwhelming at first, but when you actually taste it, the flavors combine pretty well, giving you a different enseymada experience.

7 Flavors Cheesecake

Another specialty of 7 Flavors would be their unique cheesecake. As the name suggests, it’s also a fusion of different flavors — it’s actually a calamansi-infused cheesecake on coconut and graham crust, with ube and langka mixture, drizzled with fresh durian, with coffee cream frosting and chocnut crumble. Just like the enseymada, it might overwhelm you, especially because of the fresh durian. The strong taste of durian can put you off, but you’d have to explore the taste as it unfolds on every bite. Not for the fainthearted… or the super picky-icky eater.

Iced Black and White Mocha

Before proceeding to the buffet, I was also able to try their delicious black and white mocha. I am always a sucker for caffeine, and I guess it’s safe to say that this one is not a let down. The right amount of sweetness and coffee, it’s really something that I dig for. It’s not the best black and white mocha ever, but it’s something that I’d enjoy drinking every time.

Malaysian Beef Rendang

And then, the highlight of it all: the world-fusion buffet. Although the selection is limited, it was able to capture whatever dish you’d crave for — vegetables, pork, beef, fish, chicken — you name it, they actually got it. No sashimi or anything fancy, just pure, unadulterated comfort food to make you happy.

Veggie Salad
Despite the limited number of food selection, every dish is cooked with utmost care and just tastes like a firework of flavor. I personally liked the Malaysian Beef Rendang, with the tender beef having just the right amount of spice and creaminess. I also liked Beef Bourguignon, which is kind of similar to pot roast, but is cooked to perfection, I kept asking for more. I’m a beef lover (obviously), so my top picks are on that line. For non-beef food, I’d suggest trying Chicken Drumstick in Lemon Sauce, a palatable dish bathed in zesty goodness.

The dessert table was filled with the usual pastries, bars, and mousses. The 7 flavors cheesecake is offered in the cafe, while the enseymada can be purchased on the bakery. However, if you wish to have them ordered, I believe you may request it from their staff.

Italian Soda in Strawberry
The buffet comes in with unlimited iced tea, but during our visit, we were able to try their italian soda. It’s like sparkling water with flavor, really, and it tastes wonderful. The Italian Soda is to be purchased separately, though, as it is available in the cafe.

All in all, the visit was such a pleasure. Although I’d have to admit, I’m the type of person who can’t really make the most out of buffet visits (despite my seemingly hearty appetite), but I really enjoyed eating at 7 Flavors. Aside from the fact that the food is delicious, the rates are also affordable. It’s surely worth the visit.

  1. I was quite impressed with the pricing especially since they have a discount for the first month of operation… The drink selection were a lot. Sad thing is they don't have those sugar free stuff. I liked how they refill the buffet effortless. Quick and precise. For the price, its quite affordable. Although if you add a few more hundred you do get a bigger selection and drinks to go with it at a different resto…

    cheers…

  3. If you're really for an affordable food, then this would be a great choice. Although, yes, you can add a few more bucks and you can go with a bigger buffet hehe πŸ˜€

Sadly, the food and service today is not up to par….

Today, 16 of us parents and kids went to 7 flavors to have lunch. since we are not heavy eaters, we decided to order ala carte instead of going for the buffet. although the 2nd level was for the buffet crowd, we were led to a function room there probably because there were 16 of us. nice. but nice stops after that. none of us enjoyed the food we ordered. i ordered carbonara and the pasta was undercooked. but i was soooo very hungry for waiting sooooo long that i ate it anyway. the other moms and kids experienced the same thing with their orders. smelly seafood pasta and smelly lasagna. cheese not melted enough and so on. . and the service was so bad. really! after the unsatisfying lunch, i asked for my bill and the handwritten bill did not reflect the price indicated in the menu. why? they said the prices have increased but they haven't changed the one on the menu yet. i wasn't expecting this after reading through all the wonderful blogs. besides, the place opened a mere month back. NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!!! and that's not just my own sentiments.
