Living The Adventure at Laboracay!

We need some adventure in our lives every now and then. I am not the adventurous and active type, but last labor day weekend, I realized that I wanted to change my life and try to YOLO everyday instead of always being inside my comfort zone.

24: Live the Adventure with Jack City and Smart

As I have mentioned last time, I am looking forward for a fitter me this year, and to top that all off, I am also looking to indulge myself into adventures and experiences every time that I have the chance. This labor day, I was able to push myself and try out being an agent of some sort for Jack City’s 24: Live the Adventure challenge. I was chosen to be one of the participants and the representative of When in Manila, along with a fellow contributor, Zia.

The challenges!

It was a two-day challenge packed with exhausting activities that definitely tested our strength and will power. As soon as I saw our ‘top secret agent kit’, I immediately felt excited and anxious at the same time. I was scared that I might not be able to accomplish our tasks, but thank heavens I was able to survive. It was tiring, yes, but at the end of the day, it was fulfilling and if I would have the chance to go through it again, I would definitely say yes in a heartbeat.
Boopboop. Define struggle!

The first challenge was wall climbing at Patio Pacific. We had a quick briefing first with the beautiful Bea Fabregas (Go UP!) and a tutorial of some sort with Coach Jackie. It looked easy when the professionals did it, but man, was it the hardest thing that I had to do for the next few days! I wasn’t able to go far, and I eventually tapped out because I could no longer seem to find the next steps toward the greater heights. It was fun though, and I promised myself to try wall climbing again and reach the top next time.
Our next challenge was a photo opt. We had to go around the place and look for certain people and take a photo with them. Unfortunately, during our first stop at the 2nd Avenue party, my partner got bumped in accidentally by yours truly and her phone made its way towards the bottom of the DJ booth. She eventually got it and we continued our way. All teams were not able to finish this challenge since one of the people that we have to look for left a little too early before the challenge even started. What a B! Hehe!

Gotta complete this puzzle fast!
The next day was dedicated for the obstacle course, the crossfit challenge, and the mermaid swimming lessons. It was all physically draining, but at the end of the day, we still had our energy to party until the wee hours of the night (more of this later).

Dig! Dig faster!

The obstacle course was short and quick but exhausting. We were on the beach, and despite all the palm trees, the 10AM heat was just too much. Well, the heat was too much during the whole stay, but whatever, it was still awesome nonetheless.
Let’s go kill it, partner!
Challenge three involved crawling, puzzle making, pingpong ball passing, handcuff digging, and sack racing. It was fun, and we never even noticed that it was hot because we were too focused on completing the task at hand. As you may notice, my team mate and I were not as physically fit as the others, but we did our best to make it through. Oh, and by the way, if you are wondering who am I in the photo, I’m the one donning the short hair (yep, had it cut!).
Killin’ this rope, bitchez!

After the obstacle course, we headed towards Legacy gym to do some crossfit training. It wasn’t really the intense one, since the Solar team was that considerate (thank God), but it was still draining. We did drills like the ladder, the spider web, the ropes, and the step ups. My favorite part was the rope because I find it the easiest. The ladder tested our footwork skills, and despite the fact that I used to dance, I still had a hard time with it. I had the rhythm, but my co-participants teased me that I looked like I was about to do some serious boogie. Haha!
We had our lunch at 2PM in Obama’s Grill. Everyone was so hungry and tired, food was gone in just a couple of minutes!
The participants and their game faces!

After our lunch, we had some time to ourselves. We changed and relaxed for a couple of minutes, before proceeding to the mermaid swimming lessons. I’m no swimmer, and I could only do some leisure swimming. At first I was extremely terrified that I might make a fool out of myself, but I eventually ended up doing the breast stroke pretty well. I wasn’t able to make it to the dolphin stroke, but I’m happy that I was able to accomplish something. Hehe.
I bought pasalubongs with Clang, one of my co-participants, and we had a fun time scouting goodies. I highly suggest that you visit D’Talipapa when you’re buying pasalubongs, because their prices there are way cheaper than those who sell them goodies at the beach front or at D’Mall. D’Talipapa is located at Station 3.
My Patagonia shoes

By the end of my three day stay at Boracay, I was able to acquire a lot of goodies (thank you so much, Solar!) and loot bags. My favorite of them all is new Patagonia shoes, which is way too perfect for workouts. Wearing this mighty pair made me want to jump out and work out!
Solarized Event at Epic
Of course, visiting Boracay would never be complete without partying. We capped off our adventures by partying at Epic. The winners are announced at the same event, with Hannah and Ynnah bagging the free round trip tickets to Coron and their Samsung Galaxy Duos phone. Rod, on the other hand, was able to win round trip tickets as well for being the fastest to complete the wall climbing challenge.
Over all, we all had fun, and I definitely had one of the best days of my life. Although there has been a lot of mishaps leading to this day, I don’t regret a single second of being in Boracay for the Labor Day.
My press pass! Who would have imagined I’d be here?

I would like to take this chance to thank When in Manila for giving me the opportunity to live my life in Boracay for the Labor Day Weekend. I’d also like to thank Solar and Jack City for taking care of us. The District for their awesome service and accommodation. 🙂
Boracay Sunset

All in all, despite everything — the overcrowded parties, sweaty bodies, stressful mishaps — I extremely enjoyed my stay in Boracay. I would definitely be back next year (but most probably not during the laboracay — I have no plans of killing myself hehe). See you there then! 🙂

  1. Wow cool, you're with WIM too pala? This event looked like so much fun, from your photos! Although personally I prefer going to Boracay (sparing myself from calling it La– you know what) during non-peak season because I don't like crowds anymore.. and I find it difficult to enjoy the place and I feel it spoils the experience if there are a million people there with you. I've seen photos and it was horrible. 🙁

Hope we bump to each other when you come back. I'm going sometime this year.. hahaha. Looking forward to a serene and clean Boracay by then.
